Orgill Worldwide Distribution announced its plans for developing and serving the Canadian market at its Spring 2013 Market, which was held last week at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida.
The company, which operates in Canada in partnership with Castle Building Centres Group, filled dealers in on its plan to open a Canadian distribution this spring; introduced Canadian attendees to its new completely Canadian-compliant store; and launched its new e-commerce platform, which will be replicated for the Canadian market later this year.
Orgill president Ron Beal told attendees that the new Canadian distribution centre will be located in Mississauga, Ontario and is scheduled to open May 1, 2013.
James Jones, vice-president of national marketing for Castle, said that the Canadian distribution centre will give Castle members access to a well-rounded product assortment including additional Canadian vendor products. "The Orgill SKU count will continue to grow as a result and we now have a 'One-Stop Hardware Solution Powered by Orgill'."
"This truly is an evolution of the Canadian Hardware Solution model coming to fruition," said Castle president Ken Jenkins. "When Castle embarked on a partnership with Orgill five years ago in an effort to provide our members with a hardware solution, we could only imagine this level of success. It's great to see it come to life."
It is expected that the Canadian-compliant and Canadian products available to dealers in the distribution centre will peak at more than 50,000 SKUs.
Castle members attending the market last week also got to experience the Windsor Falls Home Centre, the new 8,000-square-foot completely Canadian-compliant store. The Windsor Falls store offered dealers the opportunity to visualize the new store footprint and to develop a self-contained hardware store for their own location with a customized product assortment and merchandising aids to support it.
In addition, attendees were introduced to "Boost," Orgill's new North American e-commerce platform, which includes a complete e-catalogue of Orgill products and mobile capability. Its design will be replicated for the Canadian compliant Orgill product assortment for Canadian independents in 2013.
